Book Review: The Pregnant King

I am so grateful to these authors who are helping in reviving the history of our beloved India. The more I read, the more curious I become. The Pregnant King written by Devdutt Pattanaik is yet another book which showcases the combination of history and fantasy jotted down in one book.

Book Review: The Palace of Illusions

_DSC3012.jpg
Title: The Palace of Illusions
Author: Chitra Banerjee
Genre: Historical Fiction
Published: Feb 2008

When one talks about illusion, my mind somehow travels back to the time when Duryodhana faced the insult at Indraprastha. At times I really wish I could invent a time the machine and go back to that period and witness the entire story myself. This book was basically on my list already and I happen to find it at Starmark in Kolkata (they have the amazing collection of books, just to let you know and plus, they have an online store as well!)

Book Review: Bhima, The Man In The Shadows

_dsc3015

Title: Bhima, The Man in the Shadows
Author: Vikas Singh
Genre: Mythology
Publisher: Westland
When you are little, it is but natural that your grandparents will tell you the stories of Mahabharata. Like the others, I also was made to know about these stories and to be honest, I got totally hooked with them. I always loved the manipulation of Krishna, the sweetness of Subhadra, mighty warrior Arjuna and the great Karna. But, in these characters, another mighty hero who got sidelined was the second son of King Pandu, Bhima. This book is about Bhima who was indeed the man in the shadows.
There is a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Confidence is good, arrogance can prove fatal.

Top Ten Tuesday: All Time Favourite Books (Mystery)

ttt
For a bookworm, I think the most difficult part is choosing the "favorite" book. After racking my head, I could manage to shortlist few of them in a set of 'ten'. Well, there are still much more! So I think if I can categorize them according to 'genre', it will be all the better. Thus, my first Top Ten Tuesday will start with my favorite books of the 'mystery' section! :D
